Job Description


Reporting to the Director, the Distribution Centre Manager is responsible for overall operations in the DC including the day-to-day effectiveness and efficiency of the DC operations and office in line with operational standards and regional performance targets and will work with the Operations team to develop and implement strategies and objectives to ensure productivity, efficiency, and maximize profitability in a customer-centric environment. The Manager is responsible for ensuring customer needs are met, for establishing a positive, inclusive, and strong culture of team accountability, and for the financial and operations planning process for the DC.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Operations Management
    • Managing the total movement, both inbound and outbound of product within the D.C.
    • Controlling stock movement and accuracy, including receiving, put away, stock location of supplier shipments, on-time delivery, etc. in accordance with policies and procedures.
    • Ensuring operational excellence in all areas including efficient operations of DC management system(s) and related equipment, safe and efficient processing of inventory reception, layout of product placement, and maintenance and organization of the DC.
    • Leading the DC Management team.
  • Customer Focus
    • Improving customer experience through process and people development.
    • Ensuring customer satisfaction levels are achieved for new and current Stores, consistent with contracted service levels, timelines, and budgets as well as legal/regulatory standards.
    • Recommending, implementing, and driving continuous improvement activities through the implementation of change management processes and best practices.
    • Collaborating with internal groups to support stakeholder relationships.
  • Financial
    • Meeting and exceeding established financial expected for the Distribution Centre.
    • Working with GOMs, VP’s and corporate departments to develop annual operations and capital budgets for the DC.
    • Managing and preparing DC financial reports.
  • Safety
    • Ensuring a culture of safety throughout the DC by ensuring safety policies and procedures are implemented and followed, and monitoring safety, physical security, and operational metrics on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
    • Promoting and implementing workplace safety and health programs, including providing direction and guidance on safe work practices, conducting investigations, reporting, and follow up to reduce reoccurrence.
    • Addressing and resolving health and safety issues in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Leading the continuous improvement function and oversight across all DC departments.
    • Designing, modifying, and implementing optimized operations processes across different functions in the context of continuous improvement and innovation.
    • Responsible for measuring and analyzing the performance of the organization's processes to ensure optimal results; championing an organization culture that promotes and sustains quality as an element of superior business performance and client/stakeholder satisfaction.

Qualifications


You have a Community College diploma or preferably a University degree in related field coupled with ten (10) years of distribution experience, including five (5) in a management role. Your experience in financial and operational performance management as well as management of operations personnel is critical to your success in this role. You must be well versed in using tools such as MS Office and have a good knowledge of AS400.
