Reporting to the Sr. Director, Technology Operations, this position is responsible for performing various tasks related to project planning, development, deployment and troubleshooting. In addition to the skills required by a Systems Administrator this role provides support and techniques for automating provision and management of infrastructure in a distributed environment through scripting.
The Role:
The DevOps Engineer will partner with Developers to facilitate better coordination among operations, development, and testing functions by automating and streamlining the integration and deployment processes. Performs system administration (Linux/Unix or Windows) at the command-line level. Maintains Docker and/or Kubernetes infrastructure. Provides guidance and expertise on system options including identifying risk, impact and costs vs. benefits. Installs and configures solutions, implements reusable components, translates technical requirements, assists with all stages of test data, develop interface stubs and simulators and performs script maintenance and updates. Deploys new modules and upgrades and complete fixes within the production environment, including CI/CD, continuous testing, app performance monitoring, infrastructure settings and configurations. Performs routine application maintenance tasks. Performs multi-tier architectures: load balancers, caching, web servers, application servers, databases, and networking. Basic monitoring techniques in a dynamic environment.

Must Have:
- University degree in computer science or software engineering and/or 5 years equivalent
- Working knowledge of one or more high-level programming languages (C#, Java, PHP, Ruby, Python)
- Strong understanding of cloud security best practices.
- Strong scripting skillset for automation.
- Strong Command of Automation Technologies and Tools.
- Experience with templates and other configurable items to enable automation.
- Understanding of stateless and loosely coupled distributed applications.
- Familiarity with deployment techniques (and tools) in a distributed environment.
- Familiarity developing with RESTful API interfaces.
- Basic understanding of relational and non-relational databases.
- Familiarity with messaging and queuing services.
