Established in 2008, Rifflandia Festival is one of the longest running large-scale music and arts festivals in Western Canada. Spanning four days every September (hence the slogan “September Forever”) a unique combination of the urban decentralized festival at Electric Avenue, with the traditional grassy field festival experience at The Park, Rifflandia welcomes over 40,000 music lovers to Victoria BC for performances by top international and national acts alongside new and emerging artists. As a beloved staple in the Province’s Capital City, Rifflandia compliments the city’s culture of supporting locals by featuring Victoria based businesses such as food & beverage entrepreneurs and creative artisans.

Rifflandia is looking for a candidate who will bring both critical thinking and strong, applied experience in leading a team which will deliver impactful marketing. Reporting to the executive team, this role requires an experienced marketer to play a key role in implementing and executing the strategic and creative vision for the festival.

This full-time position, based in Victoria, BC, works both remotely and in-office, and offers a competitive salary, commensurate with experience; it also includes a comprehensive benefits package and paid vacation time. We are open to meeting exceptional candidates who may need to relocate.

  • What You’ll Do:
  • Lead the development of the 2023 marketing roadmap; strategy and objectives, KPIs, and analysis of results
  • Work with Executive team and Designer to develop and maintain brand identity, assets, and standards
  • Lead and direct a small team made up of individuals who will be responsible for social media execution, content creation, digital and print marketing, e-commerce, and festival websites
  • Build and manage marketing budgets and expenditures
  • Drive the design and implementation of successful marketing campaigns to a diverse audience
  • Support Box Office Manger with strategies for ticket sales
  • Support event engagement and attendance for each day of the festival at each site
  • Support Partnership department to align sales and marketing strategies and fulfill agreements
  • Manage delivery schedule and design priorities of Graphic Production Designer
  • Source and order all printed assets
  • Conduct market analyses to identify challenges and opportunities for growth
  • Exercise relationship building skills to create as well as maintain partnerships with customers, stakeholders, and media

What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing or a related field or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years of progressive marketing experience reaching diverse audiences
  • Experience owning digital marketing, including SEO, online metrics, online revenue, media buying
  • Ability to organize and manage concurrent projects with multiple, competing priorities, deadlines and areas of focus
  • Proficient writer with excellent editing skills, spelling, and grammar
  • Ability to blend creative strategies with analytics
  • Ability to coach and inspire a team of people which maximizes each of their strengths
  • Strong communication, integration, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
  • A love of live music, art, food, and community building
