What is the opportunity?

An integral member of Canadian Banking Compliance’s Leadership team and thought leader responsible for the strategy and execution in managing the regulatory compliance risk related to the high profile, large scale, sophisticated HSBC integration. Taking a strategic, pragmatic and risk-based approach, this role advises senior le in identifying and prioritizing regulatory compliance risks, sets out mitigation strategies and co-creates successful business integration plans and tactics by working with business leaders and partners. Post integration, this role will lead a team of segment compliance professionals responsible for a portfolio of some of P&CB’s lines of business including Business Financial Services (commercial), RBCx/Ventures and Digital.

What will you do?

  • Sets the strategy and provides thought leadership that promotes the proactive and effective identification, prioritization, and management of regulatory and compliance risks of HSBC integration and large-scale transformative business initiatives.

  • Employs strategic vision, frameworks, and dynamic approaches to ensure adherence with regulatory requirements while keeping a pulse on regulatory and industry trends and new or proposed regulatory changes.

  • In a second line of defense (2LoD) capacity, consults and educates the business on regulatory requirements and provides value added advice on implementation decisions, approaches, and tactics.

  • Business oriented solutions are grounded in a fundamental understanding of the Canadian Banking’s strategy, products and services and the associated regulatory risks.

  • Develops business integration and delivery road map with stakeholders and devises and owns the related 2LoD execution requirements and milestones.

  • Devises creative proposals to streamline and promote synergies in the development and implementation of regulatory compliance solutions.

  • Effectively collaborates across the organization to deliver on program milestones, deliverables and common goals and assists in devising OKRs, KPIs, metrics to measure impact, value created progress and adoption.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Impact, influence maturity and experience working with a diverse group of stakeholders and demonstrate strong collaboration skills across the organization.

  • Experience in interpreting, advising and applying legal, regulatory and/or policy requirements and ability to draw connections between regulatory requirements and business initiatives, recognizing oncoming impediments and support partners to clear the path proactively

  • Experience leading or shaping large transformational efforts.

  • Experience with change management, experience with agile ways of working (ie. prioritization, backlog mgmt, test n’ learns and making quick iterations with done better than perfect)

  • Ability to both grasp big picture and have rigorous attention to detail.
