The Opportunity:

The Dishwasher role will be serving the Athens Creek Retirement Lodge in Penticton, British Columbia. This role is responsible for ensuring top resident care is priority, with an elevated level of focus in time management and hospitality.

  • A strong personal commitment to Person Directed Care approaches. Current familiarity with the Eden Alternative Philosophy and the Domains of Well-Being is preferred
  • Strives to attain excellence in Resident, family member and employee care partner satisfaction
  • Properly washes, stacks and stores glassware, silverware, cookware, and storage containers
  • Scrape, rinse, and load dishes and utensils into dish machine
  • Clean food prep stations and equipment
  • Maintain a clean work area and kitchen by sweeping and mopping as needed
  • Friendly with a sense of humor and the utmost respect for all persons
  • Knowledge of supportive living services, assessment, and care planning
  • Maintains ongoing compliance with appropriate local, provincial, and federal regulatory standards
  • Demonstrates strength in building partnerships with Residents, family members, employee care partners, volunteers, external care partners and the community at large to ensure the vibrancy of our community
  • Flexible, willingness to prioritize and adjust routines
  • Strong time management skills
  • Excellent problem solving and conflict resolution skills, and ability to effectively deal crisis situations
  • Awareness for accident and injury prevention and adheres to safe work practices
  • Auditing and collecting ongoing resident/family feedback. Including but not limited to the Resident Food Services committee
  • Assisting in identifying and addressing needs within the Community
  • Actively participating on various committees/meetings providing advice/ input
  • Perform additional cleaning duties as requested

Skills and key deliverables that will take you further:

  • Grade 12 Diploma or recognized equivalent is required
  • Food Safe Certificate
  • Restaurant or customer service experience preferred
  • Comfortable bending, climbing, reaching, stooping, and moving quickly
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR Certificate
