Responsibilities
- Research/find best carriers for freight services
- Negotiate rates, spot rates, contract, and pricing agreements with carriers
- Maintain database and working relationships with existing and potential carriers
- Monitor market requirements for carriers and capacity (supply vs demand) with carriers
- Plan/coordinate pick-up and delivery schedules and coordinate/schedule/dispatch drivers
- Maintain positive relationships with customers by responding to concerns/queries, reporting their shipment status, and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner
- Ensure freight paperwork is completed/approved before transportation
- Monitoring driver routes to ensure timely delivery of freight
- Determining resolving routing problems
- Recording mileage, fuel use repairs
- Communicating with drivers during their trips to ensure smooth delivery of freight in a timely manner
- Ensuring that drivers have all necessary paperwork in order
- Other duties as required
- Previous work experience in Dispatching/Logistics role within the Transportation industry
- Excellent customer service skills
- Strong knowledge of the GTA
- Strong computer skills
- Superior communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Excellent organizational skills
- High attention to detail
- Team-player attitude
- Strong negotiation skills
- Able to work independently
- Able to work full-time Monday-Friday
