Doggy Daycare Animal Care Attendant

Main Purpose of the Job:

To provide supervision and care to canines during the day, as well as provide customer service to human clients, while performing regular duties within the facility such as cleaning, organizing, inputting, record keeping, money handling, and working as a team with co-workers. Reports to:

Owner/Manager Sam Hart, Supervisors and/or Managers on shift

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Record keeping, intake of income and inputting of finances, organization of books
  • Supervising canines, providing care of canines
  • Communicating well with other staff, as well as with human clients, answering phone
  • Cleaning and maintaining organization within the facility, as well as within fence parameters outdoors

Working Conditions:

Indoors and outdoors, with canines, alone, with other staff, in all conditions of weather and temperature.

Physical Requirements:

  • Strength Guidelines

Occasionally may have to lift a dog under twenty pounds, and pull/guide a dog over twenty pounds. Often needs to carry and lift a metal scoop filled with dog feces as well as a metal shovel weighing less than five pounds, and be able to lift a bucket filled with enclosed dog feces weighing over forty pounds. Must be able to mop the entire building floor. Must have the willingness to try pull a dog off of another dog, weighing over eighty pounds.

  • Motion Parameters

Must be capable of sitting at the desk in an office chair for a period of time, and be able to stand for an extended period of time, while also being mobile enough to walk throughout the facility throughout the length of day. Must be able to run quickly toward dogs. Kneeling on the hard floor occasionally is also in the parameters.

  • Vision and Hearing Requirements

Vision correctable to have distance as well as close range viewing with or without prescription in at least one eye is required. Hearing in at least one ear is required, with or without aids.

  • Psychological Demands

Expected to make quick decisions, supervise canines and co-workers, problem solve, read and write, speak to human clients, and input data. Must be capable of raising voice toward canines, and physically handling canines. Must be able to run toward a negative dog interaction without hesitation. Knows how to use discipline without causing abuse toward canines. Can handle seeing canines in pain or with injury, and be able to assess the situation to provide care effectively and efficiently.

Job Type: Part-time
Part-time hours: 5-25 per week

Salary: From $15.00 per hour
