About This Opportunity

Musquodoboit Valley Memorial Hospital is currently seeking physicians to fill multiple positions including a locum, part-time and full-time position to start as soon as possible. The scope of practice includes a combination of family medicine, a CEC emergency department and long term care. Musquodoboit Valley Memorial Hospital is based in picturesque Middle Musquodoboit, Nova Scotia and is a 60 minute drive from Halifax. The incoming physicians do not need to live in the Musquodoboit region.
These positions are compensated through the CEC hourly rate.
Overhead fees are billed only for the family practice area and full billing and administrative support is available in the family practice. There is no overhead charged for afterhours or inpatient work. An incoming physician can expect to be welcomed by all staff in this rural site.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • examine patients and take their histories, order diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures; advise patients on health care, health promotion, and disease prevention
  • consultation and referral to other medical practitioners’
  • act as a patient’s advocate
  • prescribe and administer medications and treatments, inoculations and vaccinations
  • report births, deaths, contagious and other diseases as per Nova Scotia Public Health requirements
  • emergency department and inpatient care
  • long term care

Expected Hours

  • full-time, part-time, physician's choice
  • locum to permanent option available

Qualifications

  • eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
  • eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
  • Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
