The External Relations & Communications Officer will work closely with senior management to communicate to and build strong relationships with high profile local, provincial and national stakeholders, including leaders in government, business and community. You possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, and are driven to be an ambassador for Platform’s mission. You enjoy work that is both strategic and hands-on, which includes conceiving and executing communication plans, writing and delivering key positioning messages, and building high level professional relationships.

The day-to-day activities of the External Relations & Communications Officer will include:

- Stakeholder and Government Relations: Support community engagement and leadership efforts by setting up, attending and/or leading key meetings and ensuring appropriate and timely follow up with key stakeholders to keep momentum building. Participate in regional/national networks and initiatives as Platform Calgary’s liaison, leveraging our capacities in support of the larger agenda whenever possible.
- Thought Leadership and Convening: Identify, pursue and plan events/meetings that position Platform Calgary as a leading ecosystem builder and/or to support Platform’s programs and campaigns. Pursue opportunities to leverage the Platform team’s knowledge, skills and passion through community initiatives and events.
- Strategic Positioning and Communications: Develop and lead Platform’s external communications strategy and tactics, with a focus on stakeholder communications and relationships, media and government relations. Conceive and write corporate communications, including overseeing the process of developing content including impact reports, stakeholder and donor communications, corporate pitch presentations to investors/donors, and the like.

The right candidate will demonstrate the following qualifications:

- Experience in a similar role, in stakeholder and government relations or working within government.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to be strategic AND tactical, turning a modest creative budget into remarkable results through creativity and elbow grease.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities concurrently.

Platform Calgary perks:

- Salary Range: $85,000 to $115,000
