Finance Coordinator
Elk Island Catholic Schools
Sherwood Park, Alberta

Reporting to the Finance Manager, this position is responsible for accounts payable and accounts receivable functions. Salary range for this position is $63,000 to $77,500. Benefits package and pension are included. There is an opportunity for a hybrid remote work schedule for this position.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Co-ordinate the preparation, recording and disbursement of all Accounts Receivable functions.
  • Post appropriate journal entries as required for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable and reconcile register account to the general ledger monthly.
  • Reconcile and record Alberta Education funding monthly utilizing the FES and SIS programs.
  • Reconcile and record all other revenues.
  • Assist with the co-ordination of recording all Alberta Education grants.
  • Reconcile bank statements to the general ledger monthly.
  • Prepare charitable donation receipts and prepare the annual Charity Information return in compliance with Canada Customs and Revenue Agency reporting requirements.
  • Reconcile and prepare the quarterly GST rebate claims.
  • Lead training for schools on the use of accounting software for maintaining records of school-generated funds.
  • Provide on-going support to schools on various financial reporting (i.e., GST, fee payments and forms) to ensure compliance with GAAP, Canada Revenue and Alberta Education reporting requirements.
  • Troubleshoot the division accounting program.
  • Assist with the planning of the operating activities of the Finance Department and formulate future goals and objectives in handling these functions.
  • Consult with other departments, administrators and employees regarding accounting practices and procedures.
  • Prepare the year-end working papers.
  • Liaise with the auditors to provide technical assistance as required.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

The Finance Coordinator must possess a minimum of a diploma in Business Administration and be proficient with word processing, spreadsheets, and accounting software.
