Does the idea of working in a collaborative and face-paced environment, contributing to financial planning & forecasting activities for a word-class retailer interest you? Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Planning & Forecasting, within the Financial Planning & Analysis department, you will play an active role in preparing budget financial statements and actively collaborate with business partners to finalize operating expense budgets for the Annual Financial Plan. This position will also lead expense forecasting activities that occur throughout the year and provide valuable insights and analysis to both the Manager and Senior Manager of Corporate Planning & Forecasting. In addition, you will play an active role in the maintenance of both our Hyperion application and Oracle Project Accounting module, to prepare and distribute regular reporting and analysis for key stakeholders and leaders across the corporation.

About the Role
  • Lead the preparation of Financial Statement budgeting to support the development, execution, and approval of the Annual Financial Plan.
  • Manage business relationships and provide guidance, technical support, and training to budget Managers across all areas of the organization – while establishing productive client relationships fostering transparency as it relates to budgeting.
  • Remain current on accounting principles and corporate policies as it relates to planning.
  • Implement, adjust, recommend technical solutions, and support regular patchwork and testing for Essbase & Hyperion System(s) in addition to Oracle Project Accounting, while utilizing programming skills (VBA, SQL, Syntax and JavaScript).
  • Improve current systems and applications for the business’ needs on front-end and as administrator for the team on the back end.
  • Manage and adhere to Project related tracking (Capital & Operational Expense) for periodic reporting and, at times, daily administration that supports the entire organization.
  • Provide decision support on cost benefit analysis, and/or opportunities for improvement to current processes. Work along side team members to produce post-implementation analysis for Executive team review.
  • Contribute and collaborate as a team member in cross functional settings.
  • Communicate effectively with business partners and within the Finance division.
  • Prepare models and scenarios as required for testing and improvement practices.
  • Create and distribute dashboards and financial summaries to stakeholders and business partners on major KPIs and financial performance.
  • The ability to conduct complex financial analysis and learn new financial software and systems with ease.
  • Successfully communicate complex problems verbally, written or via decks/presentations as you assist the team in presenting key findings and recommendations to decision makers.
  • Recognizes key financial, operational, business drivers of performance and integrates these into business insights and collaborate with the rest of Finance to incorporate into financial models for analysis and forecasting.
About You
  • Post-secondary education in accounting/finance or a related field is required. An accounting or Finance designation (CPA, CFA, MBA, or equivalent) completed or in progress is an asset but not mandatory.
  • Data-driven with the ability to analyze and review numbers and trends to support key business decisions.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, Access) is a must with VBA knowledge as an asset.
  • Experience using Hyperion Planning, Essbase, and Financial Reporting Studio.
  • Programming skills for scripting and troubleshooting purposes (e.g., VBA, Java, SQL, Syntax) would be an asset.
  • Strong technical skills with proficiency in SQL, Power BI (or alternatives), including experience with complex datasets would be an asset.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced changing environment while managing multiple tasks and competing priorities while leveraging sound judgement and decision-making abilities.
  • Highly motivated with strong drive for continuous improvement with or without direction.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, client services, problem solving abilities as you collaborate with team members and business partners across the corporation (both in the office and virtually).
  • Experience related to financial planning, reporting and analysis in a retail merchandising environment is preferred.
  • Highly developed business and financial acumen to drive business performance, embracing change and innovation.
  • Detail oriented with strong organization skills is a must.
