WestGen, Western Canada’s leading dairy genetics company, located in Abbotsford, BC, is currently looking for a Financial Controller to join its team to support the WestGen Group of Companies. Job Summary

The Financial Controller reports directly to the CFO and holds responsibility for managing the overall financial operations of WestGen Group of Companies and will provide accurate information to the Board of Directors, including analysis, budgeting, and preparing financial reports. The Controller will be responsible for directing and managing the company's accounting functions, including establishing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures as well as the preparation of financial statements and reporting to top management and externally.


Core Competencies

  • Provide analytical review of the reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts, including the reconciliation of subsidiary ledgers to the general ledger
  • Review general entries and reconciliations. Prepare or assist in preparing bank reconciliations, bank journal entries, credit card transitions, and bank deposits and implement/follow standard procedures for the same
  • Process and reconcile internal and external accounts (intercompany transactions)
  • Responsible for overseeing payroll-related functions including sales commission calculations and reports
  • Responsible for overseeing all benefit-related functions
  • Satisfy and ensure compliance of regulatory reporting and other requirements imposed on WestGen by Federal and Provincial government agencies, crown agencies (WCB) and group benefit and pension suppliers
  • Track fixed assets and prepare depreciation schedules within Microsoft 365 Business Central
  • Assist with the processing of Accounts Payables and Accounts Receivables
  • Monthly variance analysis and reporting
  • Perform month end closing in NAV
  • Answering inquiries from employees, customers, and vendors


Qualifications

  • Professional Accounting Designation (CPA)
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in full-cycle accounting
  • Proven success in achieving objectives and managing change.
  • Experience and knowledge of all aspects of corporate accounting and financial management.
