Summary:

The Laboratory processes Mine Production and Exploration samples for grade control providing vital information in a timely method to assist in key decision making relating to mining/geology activity and reconciling samples entering and exiting the Mill Process. Personal accountabilities apply to this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Competency in Basic Mill Common & Alignment to Mill Classification Guideline
  • Maintain records of the receipt and analysis of the samples, standards, and reference material
  • Weigh, measure, record and mix samples
  • Organize work space to process samples from the mine following a chain of custody procedure
  • Crush and pulverize ore samples to the consistency required (-10 mesh). This is our Standard Operating Procedure
  • Perform routine inspections on machines and equipment to determine if any maintenance is required
  • Responsible Quality Assurance (QA)
  • Keep work areas clean to maintain a safe and clean working environment (Housekeeping)
  • Prioritize work and follow Standard Operating Procedures and working safely

Key Requirements:

  • A degree or certificate in a related field would be considered an asset
  • 2+ years of fire assay or similar experience is required
  • Training on the job is provided but requires aptitude for prioritisation of repetitive tasks (efficiency)
  • Knowledge of laboratory equipment and procedures would be considered an asset
  • Working mathematical and computer skills is required
  • Lifting of up to 20kgs, walking, climbing stairs, sitting, crouching, bending, and balancing are physical requirements

Schedule: Shift work up to 12 hours duration for shifts both day and night shift
