LaPrairie Works is looking to fill the role of Foreman, Highway Maintenance in High Prairie, AB.

Under the direction of the Superintendent – Operations, the Foreman, Highway Maintenance will oversee staff and the proper allocation of resources to ensure work is being performed according to established standards.

The Foreman, Highway Maintenance Operations, must possess a valid Class 1 or 3 driver’s license, the ability to understand and implement provincial highway maintenance specifications and with five (5) or more years of experience in the Highway Maintenance, Public Works, and/or Highway Construction industries.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Promote and monitor compliance with required legislation, including safe operation of equipment, National Safety Code, and Occupational Health and Safety regulations
  • Promote company policies, procedures, and ethical standards and implement measures to ensure employee compliance
  • Oversee operations to ensure that work is being performed according to established performance criteria
  • Facilitate employee training, to meet LaPrairie program objectives and legislative requirements
  • Monitor employee performance using practical targets that are consistent with company goals.
  • Coordinate activities effectively by allocating resources, scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and delegating work accordingly
  • Ensure procedures for equipment inspection and preventative maintenance of vehicles are followed
  • Review road condition reports and track performance
  • Assess team performance and identify areas for continuous improvement
  • Ensure that safe work practices are being promoted and followed

The ideal candidate has the following:

  • Three years of experience in a supervisory role and preferably with five years of experience in the Highway Maintenance, Public Works, and/or Highway Construction industries
  • Valid Class 1 or 3 Drivers License and with clean record
  • Proven experience with project supervision / management
  • Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills
  • Ability to delegate, set realistic expectations, and monitor progress of direct reports
