Position Summary
The Forklift operator will operate a forklift to move materials around the warehouse in a JIT environment. This position provides support to the production department. Responsibilities include loading and unloading trucks.
Responsibilities
- Manually load and unload materials from pallets, skids and lifting devices;
- Assist in loading and unloading of trucks;
- Performing circle checks on equipment;
- Accurately ship and receive product;
- Work closely with the shipping department to ensure timely arrival of all goods and; services to support production in the allotted time frames;
- Accurately weigh and document materials;
- Daily housekeeping and maintaining equipment and surrounding work area;
- Support Infor Visual ERP implementation
- Uphold all health & safety rules and regulations per JNM/WMT Health & Safety Manual and Ontario’s Occupational Health & Safety Act;
- Uphold all employment standards, company policies and procedures;
- Prompt and regular attendance and working all assigned hours;
- Perform any other duties, as required.
Educational Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
- 2-3 years’ experience as a forklift operator
Skills & Knowledge Requirements
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Organizational abilities with the task prioritization, multi-tasking, use of timelines and time management techniques
- Previous experience with an ERP system is a plus
- Strong work ethic and ability to work in a team atmosphere
- Experience with routine maintenance operations
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and written
- Able to work under pressure
Working Conditions
- 40 - 60 hours per week as scheduled
- Day, afternoon, midnight and weekend shifts
- Plant Environment
- Exposure to loud noise
