Dog Lake Resort is an angling and adventure tourism operator based 35Km NW of Thunder Bay Ontario Canada. We are looking for a positive, outgoing, creative and competent cook / housekeeper to provide excellent meals for our guests and staff.

Daily meal service consists of made-to-order breakfasts; soup, sandwiches, and freshly baked cookies - a 3-course dinner menu which rotates every seven days. Fresh soups, sandwiches, salads, appetizers, entrees, and desserts are prepared daily. The Cook is also responsible for providing lunch for all staff at the lodge , employees are served the same meals as guests.

General Responsibilities of Lodge Cook:

  • Cooking all meals and managing food service (including clean up + dishes)
  • Managing related inventory, including the proper storage and handling of frozen and fresh food items
  • Working with food items available and utilizing leftovers
  • Preparing and submitting weekly food orders (i.e. fresh produce, breads, meats, and dairy products) and picking them up in Thunder Bay.
  • Keeping the kitchen spotless and well organized
  • Being flexible to accommodate late arrivals of guests and food orders.
  • Season opening/closing of facilities
  • Cleaning cabins and washroom houses as required.
  • Wash and fold laundry on a daily basis.

The Cook works together with the other lodge staff as a team to ensure an exceptional experience for our guests. The job requires flexibility and initiative, as obligations may vary depending on changing daily requirements. These can range from the initial kitchen set-up at the opening of camp in the spring to the end-of- season closing chores. The Lodge Cook must have a professional appearance and be courteous at all times. Candidates must be able to think on their feet and are expected to creatively problem-solve and adapt to changing conditions. All employees must have the stamina and willingness to put in long hours for the duration of the season and be able to cheerfully deal with the unexpected.

Previous culinary experience preparing both breakfast and dinner for a large group of people is an asset. A valid First Aid certificate and Class G drivers license with a clean abstract is a requirement.

Candidates must be able to live and work in a semi remote environment as part of a close knit team for the duration of their contract, May 5 until September 15. Salary is paid monthly and is based on experience. Room & board are included, as well as a share of gratuities.
