About the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL)

Basketball is the fastest growing sport in Canada and the CEBL is at the forefront.

A league created by Canadians for Canadians, the CEBL is thriving as the only Canadian-based global team sports brand. It is recognized as among the best of more than 200 FIBA pro leagues around the world. With 10 teams in six provinces and plans for continued expansion, it is the largest professional sports league in Canada. The CEBL season runs May through August, enabling the league to attract players with experience in the NBA, NBA G League, top international pro leagues, the Canadian National Team program, and major NCAA and U Sports programs.

Through its first four seasons, league rosters have been composed of 75 per cent Canadian talent, by far the highest percentage of Canadians found in any professional league. The CEBL represents Canada in the FIBA Basketball Champions League Americas, which features the top 12 teams representing seven countries from South and Central America and Canada.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Game Day Producer is responsible for planning, coordinating and executing the production of all home games, ensuring first-class and professional game presentation for all fans.

The Opportunity:

· Liaise with the President of the Winnipeg Sea Bears and the production staff at Canada Life Centre to coordinate the different components that compliment the in game experience, including the PA announcer, the DJ, the Video Team, the Audio Technician, the Power Ring Operator, the mascot and others.

· Ensure timely production of game scripts and communication of game details to other areas of the organization through customized game briefs.

· Plan, coordinate and write detailed event scripts that will be used by game night production crew.

· Attend, oversee and execute home games in the position of Game Producer.

· Produce or oversee the production of various digital video elements for the game night experience including animations and graphics.

· Pre-plan the upcoming season for game presentation as it relates to theme nights, special occasions, giveaways etc.

· Work in partnership with sales department to plan, coordinate and execute all in game production sponsorship activations.

· Provide strategic framework, forms, mapping, and execution documents to facilitate and enhance the process of game production execution serving internal and external clients.

Scouting Report on our ideal candidate:

· A self-starter with an innate sense of commitment and responsibility to the goals at hand.

· Willingness to work variable hours, including evenings and weekends during the basketball season (May- Aug).

· Strong local ties to the Winnipeg and Manitoba sport community is a plus.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years’ experience working in a team sports environment. Experience with Basketball or other sports production is an asset.
  • Solid understanding and experience in execution of game production.
  • Comfortable working with a group of individuals as a team member.
  • Strong creative skills and a thorough understanding of both live sports events and television production.
  • Excellent knowledge of Basketball and Basketball culture.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Demonstrated capacity to prioritize competing demands in a diverse and evolving environment, independently managing and meeting deadlines and corresponding workload.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to successfully communicate with the public, employees and/or partners.
  • Well-developed understanding of video and animation production including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite & Adobe Creative Suite and other creative software applications.
  • Highest level of personal and professional integrity and ethics.
  • University degree in sports marketing or the equivalent of experience and education is an asset.
