Come work as a General Cardiologist with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)!

The Division of Cardiology, Department of Medicine at the Richmond Hospital invites applications from Physician Cardiologists for a full time Permanent position. Start date and end date can be negotiable.

Richmond Hospital is a 210-bed teaching hospital affiliated with the University of British Columbia’s Faculty of Medicine. Fully accredited with a Level 3 Trauma Centre classification, Richmond Hospital sits at the centre of the culturally diverse and geographically unique city of Richmond, B.C., located 20 minutes south of Downtown Vancouver.

The City of Richmond, B.C., is located at the mouth of the Fraser River in the southwest corner of Vancouver’s Lower Mainland. With its mild, coastal climate and proximity to nature, Richmond has experienced growth and change at a remarkable pace, transforming from a rural community to international city in a manner of a few short decades. So, too, has Richmond Hospital grown and evolved alongside it.

What began as a community health care facility 50 years ago, and has grown into a “big city” hospital that still provides a sense of community for its staff and patients. Richmond Hospital’s medical community is collegial and supportive with excellent relationships between departments as well as between community-based family physicians and specialists.

Serving a population of 218,000 residents, Richmond Hospital provides emergency, medicine (with all the sub-specialties), critical care, surgery, psychiatry, telemetry, pediatrics, family birth unit EEG/EMG, pulmonary function and polysomnography. Patients are supported with cardiac and respiratory rehabilitation programs. The surgical program is a robust department with seven acute operating rooms, a strong surgical day care component and active outpatient services. Richmond Hospital is the lead provincial Bariatric surgical site that serves patients from across B.C.

As Richmond Hospital heads into its second 50 years, it will see continued patient activity from not only a growing and changing community but also from the growing transportation hubs of Vancouver International Airport and the BC Ferries terminal in neighbouring South Delta. To prepare for its future, Richmond Hospital is preparing to undergo expansion and renewal as announced in March 2018 by the BC provincial government.

If you are looking for a dynamic community with a colourful past and promising future in which to practice medicine, and have an interest or additional training in research and/or medical education, consider joining our Richmond Hospital team.
