Grader Operators
We are currently recruiting experienced Grader Operators to join our growing team within the Thompson Okanagan region of British Columbia. Candidates should demonstrate a history of skilled experience operating a GPS equipped Grader to spread, smooth & level materials & snow, road construction, running grade, cutting slope, finished grading, working in all types of ground conditions, effective use of wheel tilt for executing turns and grade requirements, performing successive passes over working area observing reference grade stakes or hand signals to specified grades, drawing & grade stake reading with limited supervision and direction.

General Duties & Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret drawings, plans and diagrams to perform required work
• Work safely in a mining or civil construction environment following the procedures and policies that are in place
• Support operations through manual labour, including shoveling, operating powered equipment, loading and unloading of miscellaneous supplies and equipment, light maintenance, and other duties as needed
• Play a critical role in ensuring your own safety and the safety of others
• Daily 360° inspection of all equipment for operational and safety checks
• Perform work to your greatest ability and of the highest quality
• Accurately complete all work reports and maintenance logs as required
• Follow equipment maintenance schedule and advise if repair is required
• Regularly perform Safety inspection of equipment and tools

Requirements:

• Ability to pass mandatory Drug/Alcohol pre-screen and obtain FIT test in advance of employment start date
• Ability to complete mandatory internet-based Orientation and Indoctrination training and certification
• Class 5 Driver’s License, reliable transportation, and ability to provide a clean Drivers Abstract
• Be safety conscious and extremely comfortable driving in all types of inclement weather to get to and from worksites or point of company-based transportation

• Positive safety behaviours with ability to work safely and effectively while completing and following an FLHA
• Operates safely with care and attention to the equipment, the jobsite and the crew
• 3 plus years’ experience operating a CAT Excavator
• Willingness to step out of the cab and perform labour tasks if and when required
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and handling up to 50lbs
• Stable work record with preferred experience in an industrial environment preferred
• Ability to work both DAY and NIGHT Shifts with unpredictable and/or conflicting deadlines
• Ability to interact positively with co-workers and supervisors
• Willingness to learn and gain adequate knowledge and experience through training
• Effective communication and people skills
• Strict attention and compliance with equipment cleanliness, maintenance and completing logs
