NAIT’s Corporate and Continuing Education (CCE) is seeking an enthusiastic and talented graphic designer responsible for the creation of digital Learning Resources (LR), as directed by CCE’s Curriculum Development team. Reporting to the Curriculum Development Lead and Media Supervisor, you will be responsible for the visual design of print and interactive web-delivered LR, working as part of a high-functioning, multi-disciplinary production team.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and produce documents, graphics, interactive LR, video, and audio to enhance user experience in non-credit NAIT courses, workshops, micro credentials, and webinars. These design products are used as learning objects for various methods of educational delivery; however, much of the work is for online delivery in NAIT’s learning management system (LMS).
  • Consult on project scope and contribute to curriculum development decision making guided by User Experience (UX) principles, as part of a diverse team.
  • Develop storyboards for videos and interactive LR.
  • Develop scripts and create audio components.
  • Transcribe videos for accessibility.
  • Design and create original print production projects for the department and support updates as required.
  • Collaborate to devise and optimize graphic design processes which will be implemented in various CCE curriculum development projects.
  • Assist project/team members to determine project needs and develop prototypes to guide project decisions.
  • Incorporate accessibility features into LR and LMS course sites.
  • Produce design materials using appropriate equipment and software and provide technical support and expertise in the creation of specialized graphics.
  • Research and consult on the use of appropriate and innovative digital tools for development projects and other stakeholders.
  • Mentor and cross-train team members on various software applications.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong design skills are required for digital and print media and for online curriculum development such as motion graphics and interactive web apps.
  • Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and Microsoft Office365.
  • Knowledge of User Experience (UX) Design Principles.
  • Familiarity with the production processes used to create multimedia components such as digital images, digital video, and interactive multimedia programming as well as the ability to work with Windows and Mac operating systems.
  • Familiarity with E-authoring and E-learning technologies (Articulate360, Adobe Captivate, H5P), Vyond, and cross-platform production tools preferred.
  • Knowledge of CSS, HTML5, or other languages is an asset.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively.
  • Ability to prioritize work across multiple projects with diverse stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of Grade twelve
  • Related post-secondary diploma or degree in graphic design or visual communication
  • Considerable experience in the field of multimedia
  • Equivalencies may be considered

Remuneration: $2,190.21 - $2,908.77 biweekly, plus a comprehensive benefits package. (Classification – Multi Media Specialist l).

This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement.
