We are presently searching for our next talented team member as a Grounds Person to join our Park Operations team. If you can provide our guests with an amazing experience, combined with working as an energetic part of our resort, we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities include: (but not limited to)

• Maintain Park grounds throughout the Permit area including campgrounds, roadways, and front country trails.

• Clean and maintain parks facilities according to BC Parks standards (including but not limited to pit toilets, garbage bins, campsites, picnic tables, firepits communal areas, wash houses, and shower stalls).

• Repair/paint structures and facilities as needed.

• Perform landscaping duties as directed to include weeding, lawn mowing, raking, blowing leaves, and clearing front country trails.

• Ensure lawns and public areas are kept clean and free from debris, litter, lawn clippings.

• Create an effective water sprinkler rotation schedule; maintain and ensure efficient use of water.

• Maintain front country trails, walkways, paths to ensure they are free of fallen trees, debris and litter that may pose a hazard or restrict Park access.

• Follow all safety guidelines for the operation of equipment and chemicals.

• Assist in maintaining roadways and parking lots; ensure ditches and culverts are clear to promote proper drainage; shoulders, edges and ditches are free from encroaching vegetation.

• Operating and maintaining grounds keeping tools and equipment including chainsaws, leaf blowers, brush saws, etc.

• Ability to work alone with minimal supervision.

• Represent BC Parks and Manning Park Resort in a professional manner.

• Maintain communication with other staff members.

• Other tasks as required.

Job Requirements / Qualifications:

• Available to work flexible hours. 32-40hrs per week.

• Shift schedule is 7:00-15:30

• Able to lift and carry 50 lbs.

• First Aid Certification (OFA 3 preferred).

• Basic mechanical understanding.

• Knowledge of irrigation systems an asset.

• Knowledge of small engine repair as asset.

• Experience working with landscaping and power tools.

• Ability to operate chainsaws in a safe manner. Training will be provided.

• Clean drivers abstract and criminal record check.

• Experience with landscaping an asset.

• Willingness and ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

• Ability to work in a high-paced environment as both an individual and team player.

• Value safe working practices.

• Minimum Class 5 driver's license.

• Effective time management and organizational skills.

• Fluent in English.

This is a Seasonal Position so you must be able to commit to the role for the full Summer Season (May-October)
