Responsibilities


Reporting to the Guideway Supervisor, the Serviceperson will assist Technicians in the repair and maintenance of running rail, special trackwork, switch machines, power rails, and reaction rails. As well, the Serviceperson will work independently on the Guideway to perform work which does not affect the overall integrity of the tracks, such as operating railborne equipment, coverboard replacement, and minor repairs. May be required to monitor and assist contractors.

Qualifications


Secondary school graduation or equivalent;


Minimum of three (3) years recent related mechanical maintenance experience in a heavy industrial environment; Or equivalent combination of post-secondary technical training, experience working toward a relevant trade.


Valid Class 5 B.C. Driver's License;


Experience working in rail maintenance preferred;

Recruitment Process: An applicant will be required to demonstrate their suitability for this position by meeting the minimum level of qualifications and experience in order to be invited into the selection process.


A standard interview format will be used including general, scenario and behavioural descriptive interview questions.


In accordance with the Canadian Railway Safety Act - Railway Medical Rules: Section 3.2, employees who work in or transfer into safety sensitive or safety critical positions are required to undergo pre-placement and periodic medical assessments that evaluate the impact, if any, of medical conditions on fitness for work.

Rate of Pay


Wage: $40.91 per hour
