FONEX Data systems Inc. is a rapidly growing national and international provider of networking solutions to the telecommunication Service Provider/Carrier market with offices in Montréal, Toronto, Ottawa, Vancouver, Paris, France and Milan, Italy.

We are seeking an enthusiastic hardware engineer to join our R&D team to assist us in designing and developing new optoelectronics products and assemblies, including high-speed optical transceivers. Your role will cover from scripting, testing, and debugging the required firmware to assisting the hardware design team with capturing schematics and designing the mixed-signal PCB layouts.

We are seeking candidates for Montréal.

Responsibilities:

  • Being an active team member to assist the hardware team in the hardware design projects
  • Developing the firmware for the microcontrollers and FPGAs for controller boards
  • Building the communication interface modules between the developed devices/products and a computer through different digital communication protocols including USB, Ethernet/IP, I2S, SPI
  • Developing GUIs to communicate with the developed devices/products
  • Finding the appropriate electronic parts for the designs
  • Capturing schematics and designing PCB layouts
  • Preparing the bill of material for placing the orders
  • Identifying and working with suppliers to select the optical and electrical components
  • Completing technical documents, including design specification, schematic, test report, BOM, and test instructions
  • Supporting NPI and manufacturing team to ensure successful product transfer and volume production
  • Able to complete tasks and assignments in a timely fashion, with minimal supervision.

Requisites:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in electrical/computer engineering or related discipline
  • Minimum of two years of work experiences in hardware and firmware design including analog and digital circuits
  • Experience using Altium Designer or equivalent IDEs
  • Experience in VHDL or Verilog and programming FPGAs and microcontrollers
  • Familiar with the IDEs Keil and IAR
  • Familiar with Solidworks
  • Familiar with SPICE simulation software
  • Familiar with RF transmission lines
  • Knowledge about EMC and EMI concepts
  • Good communication skill and ability to work as a team player
  • Willing to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial and challenging environment

Remuneration:

Salary will be commensurate with applicable experience and proven competencies. Overall compensation package includes bonus incentives and employee benefits.

Salary: $65,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
