Job Overview

The Crump Group Inc. is a family-owned and operated premium pet treat manufacturer. Started in 2006, we have successfully established 2 market leading brands (Caledon Farms, Crumps Naturals) distributed throughout Canada and the United States. We are looking for an experienced Health and Safety Coordinator who would be looking after our Warehouse operations and Office safety program.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a Health and Safety Coordinator to join our team both on site and at our Manufacturing Facility in Mississauga, ON. This individual will report to the Plant manager, and will be required to promote safe attitudes, work practices and environments with the objective of minimizing accidents and injuries.

Candidates should have a good aptitude for independent problem solving. We are an extremely fast-growing company that faces the problems of a start-up so everyone does a bit of everything. Ability to stay organized and work meticulously is high on our list of important attributes.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, implement and maintain the company’s Health and Safety Program.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to Health and Safety Committees.
  • Ensure compliance with government regulations and safety standards.
  • Lead accident / incident reporting and investigation; provide leadership and corrective action.
  • Relay required safety information to both new and current employees
  • Identify safety training requirements, make recommendations to Safety Committees and schedule and deliver approved training as required
  • Assist in the identification, development and provision of appropriate health and safety related information, instruction and training (i.e., health and safety handbook and newsletter)
  • Complete internal audits as required
  • Maintain a WHMIS Program, including a current MSDS and staff training
  • Provide support regarding Workers’ Safety and Insurance Board regulations and policies
  • Ensure appropriate and sufficient safety equipment is available to all employees
  • Work closely with the managers to ensure workers comply with safety legislation while at work
  • Coordinate the review of health and safety related policies and procedures, including any new legislative and/or technical changes

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • Experience with PowerPoint, Excel and auditor safety software
  • Valid G Class Driver's License with a clean abstract
  • Understanding of federal, state and city safety requirements, including Ont Reg 213/91
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and presentation
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at the same time while meeting deadlines
  • Interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish effective professional relationships with employees and project managers
