Position Overview
Performs Health Information Management duties, including quantitative analysis, coding and abstracting, medical staff reviews, research and QA audits.
Experience
- A minimum of two (2) years recent experience in quantitative analysis, coding, abstracting and in performing audit and research duties.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Must be a graduate of a recognized Health Information Management Professional Program.
- It is recommended that, at minimum, staff possess the Family & Friends category of training.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
- Must be eligible for membership with the Canadian Health Information Management Association.
Qualifications and Skills
- A working knowledge of the ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-CCI coding classifications.
- Proficient in the use of current health information systems, including Windows 2000, Corel Word Perfect 9 and the Med2020 Win Recs Abstracting System.
- Must meet department standards.
- Works within the Centre’s core values, philosophy, vision, C.Q.I. goals, policies and procedures.
- Must be able to work cooperatively and courteously with all Health Centre staff and physicians.
- Must possess developed interpersonal skills in order to handle all verbal and written communication.
- Must be interested and proficient in detailed work.
- Ability to cope with stressful situations and frequent interruptions.
- Maintains confidentiality in accordance with the Personal Health Information Act.
- Assumes responsibility for ongoing education and participates in professional activities for personal and professional growth.
Physical Requirements
- Physical health to meet the requirements of the position.
This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
