Rodd Hotels and Resorts is actively seeking a General Manager for Rodd Grand Yarmouth, located in the town of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia.

Rodd Grand Yarmouth Hotel is conveniently located on Main Street in the downtown core of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia.

This full-service, 3 ½-star hotel boasts 132 large guestrooms, each with the modern amenities you would expect to find. Many of our guestrooms have beautiful views of the Yarmouth Waterfront, an excellent sample of Nova Scotia’s breathtaking scenery. For our guests’ added pleasure, they will also enjoy our fully equipped fitness centre with nautilus equipment and an indoor pool.

JOB SUMMARY

This hotel requires an individual who is organized, enthusiastic, goal-driven, associate-focused, customer focused, and willing to lead a successful team. They must enjoy being involved with the community and organizations. Our managers are hands-on, with importance placed on leadership, team building and associate training.

RESPONSIBILITIES

§ Be readily available/approachable to guests.

§ Lead by example, demonstrating self-confidence, energy and enthusiasm, and be ready to jump in on a moment's notice.

§ Serve as a mentor to employees, working with them to achieve and exceed guest service expectations.

§ Communicate all goals and results with employees.

§ Promote teamwork and employee morale by recognizing good team and employee performance on a continuous basis through reward and recognition programs.

§ Achieve budgeted revenue and profit goals by balancing cost with guest satisfaction.

§ Support sales strategies and encourage the leadership team to develop effective revenue management strategies and set goals that will drive the property’s financial performance.

§ Develop budget and capital expenditure plans, including monthly & weekly revenue/expense forecasting.

§ Lead revenue management strategies with the leadership team, maximizing revenue through yield management and inventory control systems.

QUALIFICATIONS

§ Minimum of five years of management or supervisory experience in a hotel.

§ Knowledge of local competition and general industry trends.

§ Strong leadership and a professional image.

§ Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

§ Excellent decision-making ability and analytical skills.

§ Knowledge of a variety of computer software applications.

§ Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
