The Nitty-Gritty of What you’ll be doing:

  • Provides leadership and guidance to the Human Resources team to support the successful execution of the organization’s strategic goals, objectives and key deliverables.
  • Manages assigned staff; assesses staffing needs, plans and approves staff development and conducts performance management.
  • Provides advanced expertise and applies a balanced approach to mitigate risks on various human resources matters.
  • Oversees the management of Workers’ Compensation claims, short and long-term absences, benefits administration, workplace accommodations and matters related to acquisitions.
  • Provides direction on human resources programming, practices, policies and personnel matters.
  • Works with the Director of Human Resources to establish goals and priorities that align with the overall organizational strategic goals
  • Maintains and builds strong relationships with the executive team, senior leaders, educational institutions, associations and applicable community partners to deliver integrated human resources solutions.
  • Designs, implements and gathers human resources related organizational surveys and HR metrics and provides the results to the executive team as applicable.

A great attitude will get you 90% there, for the rest, we're looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in human resources management
  • CPHR designation is considered an asset
  • 5 years+ experience in human resources management (employment, disability management, occupational health and safety, performance management, employee wellness and acquisitions)
  • Thorough knowledge of Canadian legislation related to occupational health and safety, workers compensation, human rights, disability management and the employer’s duty to accommodate
  • Experience in change management in a continuous improvement context
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, planning and decision-making skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, senior leadership and externals partners or consultants.
  • Valid Drivers License
