Job Summary

Reporting directly to the Human Resources Manager of Infinity Métis Corp. ‘IMC’, the HR & Talent Advisor will provide support for the full scope of Human Resources services to all levels of the business to support the achievement of business objectives and goals.


Given IMC is the business arm of the McMurray Métis Local 1935, the HR & Talent Advisor will support Métis Members of 1935 who are pursuing career and employment opportunities.


The HR & Talent Advisor will also collaborate with our Joint Venture Partners on workforce development strategies and initiatives.


The incumbent will conduct all activities in a manner that supports the mission, vision, and values of IMC, as well as adherence to all established Policies and Procedures.


This permanent full-time salaried position is based on forty (40) hours weekly. Additional hours may be required for the purposes of attending meetings and events.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leads the full-cycle recruitment and selection process for all assigned roles.
  • Fosters employee engagement through the delivery of corporate orientation to new staff as required.
  • Conduct exit interviews and assist with all aspects of the off-boarding processes.
  • Play a key partnership role in the development and integration of strategic talent and culture initiatives and lead special projects.
  • Partner with leaders to provide strategic advice, consulting, and coaching as it relates to understanding the organizational direction, building agile, engaged, and high-performing teams, and improving the employee experience.
  • Build trusting relationships and engage with employees to support all aspects of the employee experience and life cycle.
  • Coach, consult and proactively support leaders and employees on the interpretation, administration, and service delivery of HR programs, policies, and processes.
  • Collaborate in the development, evaluation, and continuous evolution of policies, programs, and processes that align with Equity, Diversity and Inclusion ‘E.D.I.’ principles to enhance the employee experience.
  • Support managers and employees with performance management and objective setting throughout the year.
  • Coach leaders and employees on appropriate conflict resolution, performance management, and disciplinary actions.
  • Conduct investigations and prepare documentation/reporting to make recommendations to resolve employee relations matters to ensure leaders and employees are well-supported and organizational risks are mitigated.
  • Conduct research and provide recommendations on external trends, metrics analysis, and best practices.
  • Ensure training needs for the business are evaluated and appropriate training selected and rolled out;
  • Facilitate training or in-house learning sessions for managers and employees as required;
  • Facilitate and/or attend career fairs and various business events;
  • Accurately maintain all employee data using the current HRIS (BambooHR);
  • Supports with day-to-day transactional HR related tasks; and,
  • Other relatable duties as required.

Qualifications

  • University degree in Business with a focus in Human Resources, along with three (3) years of experience in a progressive Human Resources role is required; or,
  • A combination of post-secondary education in Business with a focus in Human Resources, along with five (5) years of experience in a progressive Human Resources role may be considered;
  • Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s Licence, along with a clean drivers abstract is required;
  • Criminal Record Check is required;
  • Broad knowledge of employment, compensation, organizational planning, employee relations, and learning and development;
  • Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality and professionalism;
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to envision and deliver innovative solutions;
  • Proven analytical, planning, and organizing skills;
  • Results and people-oriented, but have sound judgment and the ability to balance other business considerations;
  • High energy level, ability to multitask, establish priorities, and work independently or in a team environment;
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment by minimizing and resolving conflicts are vital;
  • Must be decisive and work well under pressure particularly when faced with an unexpected occurrence or delay;
  • Must be proficient will all Microsoft Office suite applications;
  • Experience using an HRIS system and applicant tracking system. Knowledge of BambooHR would be considered an asset; and,
  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to listen effectively, respond appropriately, and maintain a mutual comfort level while relating to a diverse workforce.
