Provides MVS and field HES support to all stakeholders within the KD operation, to support MVS program and the prevention of SIF events and to ensure HES compliance.
Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Health Safety Environmental Regulatory (HSER) Field Specialist located in Whitecourt/Fox Creek, AB through December 16th, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. (Central Standard Time).
Chevron Canada Resources is currently seeking a Health Safety Environment Regulatory Field Specialist to join the Canadian Business Unit Health Safety Environment and Regulatory (HSER) Team. This position will be based in Whitecourt/Fox Creek, AB and will report to the Health Safety Environment Regulatory Superintendent. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting all HSER activities within the Business Unit. This will include supporting drilling and completions, production operations, facilities engineering/construction, Civil Earth Works, and Pipeline. The successful candidate must have demonstrated ability to work and influence stakeholders and have proven HSE experience/operational knowledge of drilling/completions, operations and facility construction activities.
This position requires the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). To commence employment, the selected candidate(s) must adhere to health and safety requirements established by Chevron Canada Resources (CCR), including the use of suitable PPE, in accordance with the requirements set out by applicable Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) legislation. PPE requirements may include the use of respiratory protection, a harness and/or a hard hat. CCR will, in accordance with OH&S legislation, consider requests for exemptions to the health and safety requirements, and where appropriate, may provide reasonable accommodations for personnel who are unable to adhere to these requirements due to protected rights under the relevant Employment Standards legislation.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
  • Supports efforts to achieve field OE expectations, with the primary focus on Preventing Serious Injuries and Fatalities (SIF)
  • Support incident investigation, Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) and Learning Team events
  • Participate/leads HSER initiatives as required or requested by the HSER leadership team and/or supervisor
  • Keeps direct supervisor (HSER Superintendent), informed about all potential high-exposure risks, near misses, performance, and incidents in a timely manner
  • Liaison, coach, and coordinate Simultaneous Operations (SIMOPS) plans and activities in the field
  • Support/facilitate HSE/OE trainings including e-Permit to work (ePTW)
  • Maintain and review the functional group Emergency Management Plan (EMP)
  • Be an SME with an understanding of Alberta OHS and WorkSafe BC regulations
  • Act as a Motor Vehicle Safety (MVS) advisor and liaison with Field and Corporate Office
  • Builds and maintains solid relationships with other functional subject matter experts (drilling/completions, construction, operations) to ensure alignment of priority HSER/OE initiatives
  • Participate in field-based Operational Excellence assurance activities
Required Qualifications:
  • 3-7 years of experience working in HSE field supporting Upstream Oil & Gas drilling, completions, facility and pipeline constructions, Civil Eearth Work, and Production Operations in the field
  • Understanding of Alberta and BC OH&S regulations
  • Demonstrated ability to work and influence key stakeholders outside of the HSE
  • Candidates must be willing and able to travel to field sites (drilling, completions, construction, operations) approximately 50-70% of the time and support Operational Excellence (OE) in the field
  • Must have a valid Alberta class 5 driver’s license
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Preference to a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or equivalent certification
  • Degree/diploma/certification in Occupational Safety & Health
  • Good communication, leadership, teamwork and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong work ethic with an internal drive to succeed.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact, influence, work collaboratively, build consensus and resolve issues proactively with stakeholders.
  • Can provide and receive both positive and opportunity feedback and demonstrates skills to challenge in a non-confrontational way.
