Permanent Part-Time Human Resources Advisor

Job Overview:

The Human Resources Advisoris a .6 FTE (21 hrs a week) position playing an important role in managing overall staffing in the agency and providing pertinent HR information to the agency leadership. While reporting to Director, Finance, this role oversees the entire human resources-related tasks, which could range from onboarding to offboarding, maintaining employee personnel file and being a key person for agency accreditation.

Job Conditions:

The position will be working out of the Terra Main Office located at 10320 – 146 Street between the hours of 9:00 am – 4:30 pm 3 days a week. Working hours and location could be flexible.

Key responsibilities:

  • Executing full cycle recruitment and onboarding process
  • Keeping current with existing and proposed laws and regulations affecting HR practices including Employment Standards, WCB, AB Human Rights, Occupational Health and Safety, etc.
  • Updating policies by working closely with the Leadership.
  • Advising employees and Leadership on the interpretation of existing labour, WCB, Human Rights laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Coordinating the process when employees go on leave or exit the agency.
  • Ensuring performance management system has been followed across the agency by reminding annual reviews.
  • Managing employee personnel files.
  • Managing procedures regarding workplace investigations, progressive discipline, and termination.
  • Benefits Administration: enrollment in benefits to termination from benefits.
  • Tracking employee training and certificates, making sure the mandatory training has been taken on time by reminding employees.
  • Director, Manager, and Supervisor coaching in managing Human resource issues.
  • Managing Employee relations
  • Assist in the identification of employee development/training needs and related resources.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in the Human Resources field preferably in the charity/non-profit sector.
  • College or University diploma/degree. Preference will be given to candidates with CPHR designation.
  • Demonstrated excellence in building authentic supportive relationships.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of MS Office and expertise with advanced functions in Word and Excel.
  • COVID-19 vaccinations are mandatory for all Terra staff volunteers and contractors. Successful candidates will be required to agree to comply with Terra’s mandatory vaccine policy and provide proof of their COVID-19 vaccination as a condition of their employment before commencement.

Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with strong time management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written.
  • Must possess a high level of professionalism, tact, and interpersonal skills to work with staff at all levels.
  • Must be always committed to quality work and have a self-directed work ethic and demonstrate initiative when given additional assignments.

Other requirements:

  • A valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
  • Clear Criminal Record Check and Child Intervention Check that are dated within 90 Days of the start date.

Salary: The annual salary range of this position is $36,000 – $48,000 based on a 3-day work week.Upon completion of a probationary period, we offer a comprehensive, competitive, extended health benefits package including RRSP contribution.
