A Career in Aviation and Beyond- Manager, Human Resources

Reporting to the Director HR, the Manager, Human Resources is a key member of the Voyageur Aviation management leadership team. Our ideal candidate is a high-capacity, results-oriented, HR leader with a desire to be part of a dynamic change orientated team with proven change management skills, the ability to communicate in a manner that will enable progressive improvement within the organization as a whole and must have prior experience in all HR functions, including the management and development of a team.

In your Role with our Team, you will:

  • Oversee all day-to-day HR operations.
  • Oversee HRIS system.
  • Oversee disability and WSIB case management and benefits.
  • Conduct investigation(s) when employee complaints or concerns are brought forth including but not limited to human rights, conflict, and performance.
  • Ensure business units remain in compliance with Canada Labour Code legislation, through coaching, advisement and training as required.
  • Develop and maintain effective metrics to measure and support the HR functions.
  • Represent Human Resources on several internal committees.
  • Assess Human Resource (HR) issues and develop effective fair approaches to resolution.
  • Partner with business unit leaders to facilitate Human Resource strategy and provide guidance to managers on a variety of employee issues including progressive discipline, discharge, harassment, and conflict cases.
  • Provide recommendations on compensation decisions, policy interpretations, and job evaluations.
  • In collaboration with the Director HR, develop compensation, performance, and succession planning programs.
  • Provide coaching, development, support, and direction to HR team.
  • Work with union members and management to ensure a positive relationship is maintained.
  • Work with Management to rectify grievances at initiation and step one occurrences, while providing support to any further grievance steps and arbitrations.
  • In collaboration with working teams assist with Employment equity, accessibility, OT averaging and other programs as federally required.
  • In collaboration with Workforce Planning Manager develop and maintain foreign worker programs.
  • In collaboration with the HR team develop and implement employee engagement, diversity, and inclusion programs.

The Next Great Manager Has:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, or Industrial Relations.
  • Minimum of 8+ years’ experience as Human Resources Generalist, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience managing a team of HR professionals.
  • Professional certification CHRP an asset.
  • Experience with all facets of Human Resources, such as disability & WSIB, benefits, compensation, talent acquisition, training and development, policy & program development and implementation, diversity & employment equity, employee engagement programs, etc.
  • Strong business acumen and leadership abilities.
  • Working knowledge of employment laws and compliance issues.

Location and other Key Details:

Work assignments may require working in a secured work environment or with security sensitive contracts for DND/DOD and may require safety and security clearances. The candidate is expected to be in position to receive such clearance from the RCMP.

This position will be remote with the expectation that the incumbent will travel to the head office in North Bay every eight (8) weeks and travel as required to support business needs as required.

You must be legally eligible to work for a Canadian company (e.g., be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident of Canada, or possess a valid work permit) and provide a clear Criminal Background Check.
