In House Project Estimator

The in house project estimator will be responsible for accurately estimating the costs associated with building a house, including materials, labour, and other expenses. The in house estimator will review architectural plans, develop a materials list, and calculate labour costs based on current market rates. The successful candidate will work closely with the construction team and project managers to ensure that projects are completed within budget and to the satisfaction of clients.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review architectural plans and develop a materials list based on the specifications provided.
  • Calculate the cost of materials, including lumber, concrete, roofing materials, insulation, and other building supplies.
  • Determine the cost of labour for each phase of the project, including framing, electrical, plumbing, and finishing work.
  • Work with suppliers to obtain pricing information and negotiate better deals on materials.
  • Collaborate with project managers to create accurate project timelines and budgets.
  • Communicate with clients to understand their needs and preferences and to provide accurate cost estimates for their projects.
  • Attend project meetings and provide updates on estimated costs and timelines.
  • Track and report project costs throughout the construction process, identifying areas where costs can be reduced without sacrificing quality.
  • Stay up-to-date with current construction practices and materials to ensure accurate cost estimates.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in construction estimating, with a focus on residential construction.
  • Knowledge of construction materials and techniques, as well as local building codes and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify potential cost savings without sacrificing quality.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural plans and blueprints.
  • Detail-oriented, with the ability to accurately track and report project costs.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Physical Demands: This job may require prolonged periods of sitting or standing, as well as occasional lifting and carrying of materials.

Work Environment: The in house project estimator will primarily work in an office setting, but may also visit construction sites to gather information and evaluate progress.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $50,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
