We are currently seeking applicants for the following position:

Position: Instrument Apprentice

Reports to: Branch Manager

Location: Dawson Creek

Job Brief:

Working with Journeyman Instrument Technicians and other apprentices, where you will be shown practical skills to ensure your success in the industry. You will work at test, calibrate, install, repair, and inspect manufacturing equipment and monitoring devices. While on site you will learn problem solving, follow health and safety guidelines and carry yourself in a professional manner while building strong customer relations.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Install process control, and measurement instrumentation on existing and new field equipment and processes (transmitters, controllers, analyzers, control valves, etc.)
  • Perform mechanical work associated with instrument repair and modification; remove and install small piping and tubing.
  • Rebuild control valves and tune controllers.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on instrumentation (calibration, replacement and tests as required); maintain field instrument records and standards.
  • Provide support to operations in process control.
  • Hand tool use.
  • Use pressure and or electrical test equipment to troubleshoot systems.
  • Repair and adjust system components (sensors, transmitters, programmable logic controllers, etc.); remove and replace defective parts.
  • Installation and repair of chemical pumps.
  • On-call support as required.
  • Read and understand P&ID drawings.
  • Technical training or understanding of oil and gas processes.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills.
  • Ensure Control Tech s safety program is followed; Maintain a high level of safety awareness and adherence; Refrain from any task for which authorization and/or training has not been given.
  • Attend and participate in monthly safety meetings.
  • Report all incidents and or safety concerns.
  • Ensure all required safety tickets and training are up to date and completed.
  • Learning proper use of current ERP system. (MWO/Aurena.)
  • Complete daily work tickets.
  • Complete transfers for any inventory taken.
  • Manage warehouse inventory monthly reports.
  • Complete on the job training documents for junior technicians (to be completed by senior journeyman technicians.)
  • Ensure Control Tech s safety program is followed; Maintain a high level of safety awareness and adherence; Refrain from any task for which authorization and/or training has not been given.
  • Attend and participate in monthly safety meetings.
  • Report all incidents and or safety concerns.
  • Ensure all required safety tickets and training are up to date and completed.

Qualifications:

  • Registered Apprentice
  • Valid Class 5 Driver s License
  • Ability to pass Pre-Employment Drug and Alcohol Screen
  • Standard First Aid/CPR with AED; H2S Alive
  • Participation in Company provided safety training (TDG, WHIMIS, Wilderness Awareness, Gas Detection & Control, and eGSO)
  • CSO and CSTS
  • Experience in Oil and Gas required

Education:

  • High School Diploma
