We are seeking an Intermediate Accountant to be part of a dynamic, performance-driven, and fun work environment for our Vancouver location. This is a fantastic opportunity for a self-starter who is comfortable taking on new initiatives and ad-hoc projects. The position is full-time and typical working hours are Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm.

Reporting to the Senior Accountant, the Intermediate Accountant will be responsible for performing the day-to-day accounting, performing audit quality month-end close process, cashflow management, tax compliance, and ad-hoc requests by the Corporate Controller about 25% of time. You will also participate in the determination and implementation of preventive control measures and solutions and assist the accounts payable (AP) team.

What you need to be successful in this role:

  • Strong competency with full cycle accounting and internal controls.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office and advanced knowledge in MS Excel (Pivot, lookups, and other Organizational and time management skills (eg prioritizing, following up, taking notes).
  • High degree of reading comprehension and professional communication skills, especially written.
  • Strong technical skills in ASPE with the ability to learn and maximize the use of company ERP.

Primary duties will include:

  • Completing all month-end and year-end working papers (incl. preparing draft annual budgets)
  • Support timely closing of accounts by preparing and adjusting journal entries at month-end and year-end.
  • Assist in the interim and year-end audit process by liaising with external auditors.
  • Assisting with tax matters, treaties, etc.
  • Analyzing financial information and summarizing, incl. assisting with PowerPoint Presentations
  • Assist in the implementation of accounting and internal control policies.
  • Prepare internal and ad-hoc reports as required.
  • Assisting Controller with E&O, CGL and D&O insurance, legal Client/Vendor contract and other matters (25% of the time per week)
  • Providing a helping hand to Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams whenever required.

Experience and Technical Requirements:

  • Be pursuing the CPA designation.
  • Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of industry experience with at least 2 years of full-cycle accounting. (Professional services industry preferred)
  • Proficient MS Office skills (Excel, Word, and Outlook)
  • Experience with various accounting systems (MS Dynamics NAV experience would be an asset)
