Maibec CanExel is currently seeking a Journeyman Welder to join a dynamic team located in East River, Nova Scotia.

Where is Maibec CanExel located?

Maibec CanExel is located in East River, Nova Scotia (just outside of Hubbards). The location is 1 minute off Exit 7 from Highway #103, making it an easy commute of approximately 30 minutes from Bayers Lake or Bridgewater.

JOB PURPOSE:

• To address complex repairs and preventative maintenance, working under minimal supervision.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Fitting
• Welding (Stick/MIG/TIG)
• Basic shop duties
• Cutting
• Grinding
• Actively participate in EHS Programs
• Maintain housekeeping of the assigned areas
• Participating in improvement projects
• Perform other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Good communication, interpersonal skills and writing skills.
• Solid understanding of metallurgical properties pertaining to welding
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Time management, prioritization, and multi-tasking skills.
• Good communication, interpersonal skills and writing skills.
• Demonstrated coordination and mechanical ability.
• Ability to read and understand safety rules and regulations.
• Good problem solving ability
• Basic computer skills
• Willing to take training courses for trade upgrading

EDUCATION:

• Red Seal Interprovincial Welding Ticket

EXPERIENCE:

• 3+ years’ experience as a Welder

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Plant environment.
