Giatec Scientific Inc. (Giatec) is looking for a Junior Web Developer who will be responsible for all stages of the web design process: from designing, to prototyping, integrating the front-end following our styling guidelines, and coding the back-end to be able to serve dynamic content.

As part of the Giatec Marketing team, you will report to the Digital Marketing Manager and play an integral role in converting web visitors into leads by developing highly functional web experiences.

The work location for this position is onsite (i.e. Ottawa) and/or hybrid.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Create polished and engaging web experiences which reflect the Giatec brand.
• Cooperate with web designers (in-house and/or contractors) to match visual design intent.
• Work with the Marketing team in producing creative designs and developing landing pages for various campaigns.
• Write well designed, testable, efficient code by using best software development practices.
• Create website layout/user interfaces by using standard HTML/CSS practices.
• Integrate data from various back-end services and databases.
• Optimize web pages, identifying system deficiencies and recommend solutions.
• Responsible for health, maintenance, and scaling of Giatec site.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Post-secondary Degree/Diploma in Computer Science, IT or Multi-Media & Design.
• 2+ years of web development work experience.
• Possess knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Possess minimum one year's experience in PHP and MySQL.
• Possess experience in front-end development for a WordPress Instance in WP Engine – Giatec’s webpage hosting partner.
• Possess experience in Android and iOS development.
• Possess experience designing for multiple contexts such as mobile, desktop, tablet.
• Detail-oriented and a strong team player.
• Follow modern mobile development best practices.
• Has awareness of the latest trends and technologies used in the world of web design and development.
• Possess excellent communication skills.
• Work experience in Google Analytics, SEO tools, HubSpot, CRM tools and workflows, Google Search Console, Google Tag Manager (Nice-to-have skills).
