Position Summary

The Town of Vegreville is seeking to hire a Full-time permanent labourer at the Materials Recovery Facility.

A Materials Recovery Facility Labourer is responsible for the daily operations of the Materials Recovery Facility including but not limited to indoor sorting, processing, baling, and loading of recyclable materials. Additionally, outside tasks such as processing electronics waste and paint materials at the Vegreville Sanitary Landfill.

Duties and Responsibilities

· Responsible for sorting, processing, baling, and loading of recyclables as provided.

· Processing electronics waste and paint materials at the Vegreville Sanitary Landfill.

· Assisting in the completion of daily reports and logs.

· Performs routine maintenance on equipment and building operation schedules.

· Assist with preparing electronic waste and paint for shipment.

· Some heavy lifting may be required.

· Operating a forklift as required.

Education & Key Competencies

· Minimum of Grade 12 education.

· Must have a valid Class 5 driver’s license.

· At least one year experience operating small type mobile equipment.

· Able to operate a forklift.

· Physically capable of heavy lifting.

· Sound judgement and discretion must be used when responding to inquiries regarding classified and confidential information.

· Obtain a security clearance for confidential paper shredding.

· Able to work independently, as well as a team environment.

· Understand and uphold Occupational Health & Safety standards and practices.

· First aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation are assets in this position.

· Certification for counter balance narrow aisle forklift is considered an asset in this position.
