We are looking for a Labourer at our Walker Emulsions Division Production Facility – Burlington, ON location.

LABOURER

You may be a good fit as a Labourer if you are a good problem solver, have situational awareness, and take special care to do a good job. You have the capacity to follow directives and fulfill requests while proactively anticipating actions to meet needs. Your primary goals will be a variety of production support tasks to assist in the effective and efficient operations of the plant relating to shipping, packaging, waste management, and industrial liquid product manufacturing all while maintaining a focus on safety.

As a Labourer, you will be…

  • Loading and offloading trucks and liquid tanker trunks containing raw and finished materials while following standard operating procedures. Material handling will range from raw wax and other bulk liquids into totes, drums, and pails.
  • Recording information on shipping amounts and raw material quantities to maintain accurate inventory levels.
  • Operating equipment such as forklifts, plant loaders, and trucks.
  • Packaging and labeling outgoing orders into appropriately sized containers (jugs, pails, drums, totes, etc.). Including relevant documentation for shipments.
  • Providing routine inspection of plant machinery and equipment to ensure surrounding areas are clean and safe, thereby supporting preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs.
  • Ensuring the plant overall is clean and tidy to maximize efficient production and minimize safety and environmental risks.
  • Handling wastewater treatment tote supply levels to manage production run off needs.
  • Attending training sessions on health and safety and environmental issues to promote a safe work environment and participates in EARTH 1st.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 6 months of experience in industrial manufacturing.
  • Education: Minimum of high school graduation or equivalent.
  • License: A valid G Registration Ontario driver’s license.
  • Equipment: Lift truck training an asset but not required.
  • Physical requirements: Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy objects like raw material bags and hoses. Ability to occasionally kneel, reach, stoop, bend, and stretch.
  • Equipment: Ability to use heavy equipment such as loaders, trucks, and production machinery
  • Environment: Ability to work in plant environment with frequent exposure to dust, fumes, heat, etc. Work in a moderately noisy workplace.
  • Schedule: Flexibility to change work schedule or work additional hours as needed to meet customer demands and production schedule.
  • Knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS) practices.
