Lands and Resources Support Worker
Full Time – Permanent

Following the Mission Statement of the Beaverhouse First Nation Band Office, we are seeking a dedicated and energetic individual who will work with a dynamic team to perform the following duties:

✓ To participate in various field work throughout Beaverhouse First Nation Territory to ensure
Beaverhouse First Nation’s rights are being respected and to ensure best practices are being followed in protecting our traditional values/knowledge and environment.

✓ Protect known values within the territory. Focusing particularly on traditional land use and cultural/heritage protection measures.

✓ Liaise and ensure positive working relationships between proponents and Beaverhouse First
Nation and ensures information is being shared accordingly.

✓ Participate in various water sampling, soil sampling, hydrology, and other sampling/monitoring programs alongside environmental technicians.

✓ Perform pre-drill, drill inspections and post-drill inspections alongside proponent’s staff, ensuring proper documentation of all sites and proper safety checklists are being implemented.

✓ Setting up and taking part in various community meetings to ensure information is being shared with community members.

✓ Reviewing environmental documents and maps to understand upcoming areas of work and the protection measures required.

✓ Participate and monitor any archaeological field work that may take place within
Beaverhouse First Nation territory.

✓ Receives notices regarding plans and permits and coordinates community responses as per
Beaverhouse First Nation’s consultation protocol regarding potential impacts the proposed activities may have on First Nations and Aboriginal or treaty rights.

✓ May at times be required to attend various meetings, collect information/take notes, and convey any issues/concerns that may be present.

✓ Ensure contracts are completed as per the expectations of plans and that quality meets our specifications and expectations.

Required Qualifications
✓ A degree or diploma in Environmental Sciences/Environmental Management/Biology/

Chemistry/Hydrology or any other relevant field.
✓ 1-2 years experience in similar position.
✓ Experience with Microsoft 365, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Teams
✓ Must be highly motivated, reliable, and committed
✓ Knowledge of the Beaverhouse First Nation community, its’ history and traditional land use.
✓ Knowledge of Indigenous Culture and willingness to learn.

✓ Physical ability to perform duties on the land.
✓ Must meet requirements from Industry partners following their Health and Safety policies to access job site.
✓ Experience with facilitation and coordination of working groups and/or community meetings.
✓ Must have valid Driver’s License access to vehicle.
✓ Highly motivated, reliable, and committed.
✓ Upon acceptance of the position a Criminal Record Check will be required.
✓ Experience working out on the land.
✓ Upon acceptance of the position, a VSC will be required.

Assets
✓ Valid First Aid/CPR
✓ WHMIS
✓ Knowledge of ARC GIS mapping.
✓ GPS and mapping experience.
✓ Knowledge of both Indigenous and Non-Indigenous resources, services providers, groups, and programs that are in the district.

✓ Ability to plan and organize workload and projects.
✓ Ability to analyze and evaluate problems.
✓ Ability to work in cross cultural settings with various groups, project teams, and other staff.

Salary: Remuneration depending on experience and qualifications (starting salary- $45,000/year)
