We have an immediate opening for a Lead Hand, working out of our Nepean, Ottawa, branch. This location is a constantly busy, quickly growing facility that operates with a goal-oriented and customer-driven team. As a company that deals constantly in the shifting of large construction equipment, our technician positions are vital to our success. The shop lead hand will be an experienced technician, with prior experience in performing failure analysis and repair on all types of construction equipment. Leadership and supervisory experience is necessary, as this position is the liaison between the shop, rental and CCE equipment coordinators.

Job description:

• Assign day-to-day work assignments to the service team;
• Ensure all team members on adhering to on-the-job safety requirements;
• Accurately record productivity levels and quality of work performed;
• Coordinate tasks with the service manager and oversee the activities of the department.

Requirements:

• Participate in safe workplace safety, environmentally sound behaviors and practices at all times in support of Battlefield’s health and safety policy programs and initiatives;
• Extensive background and knowledge of construction equipment and the necessary parts and services to maintain and repair;
• Hands-on experience in troubleshooting and repairs;
• Existing knowledge of the service/maintenance requirements for all types of construction equipment including Genie, Skyjack and CAT;
• Ability to work independently, skilled in time management and organization;
• Supervisory experience and previous leadership experience;
• Adaptable to on-call work schedules and willing to work to meet the demands of the business;
• Strong computer skills and familiarity with Cat systems (ET and SIS would be considered beneficial);
• A customer-centric and positive attitude; good communication skills;
• A valid G-class driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract is mandatory.
