Legal Assistant - Corporate Assistant
Smith & Hersey Agribusiness Law LLP - Medicine Hat, AB
This permanent, full-time role consists of handling corporate matters in our Medicine Hat office of Smith & Hersey Agribusiness Law LLP. Position holds potential for advancement as competency is demonstrated.
The Role
· Draft documents for new incorporations, sale agreements, corporate restructuring, and general agreements
· Work directly with the supervising lawyer
· Draft and complete reporting packages for clients
· Prioritize workflow to ensure completion of accurate work within established deadlines
· Maintain files: including daily filing, organization, opening files, closing files, etc.
· Handle client correspondence, both incoming and outgoing
· Administration duties, including bill preparation
· Ensure proper receipt, handling and disbursement of trust funds
Skills and Experience Required
· Completion of a recognized legal assistant program is preferred, but not required
· Exceptional attention to detail
· Strong organization skills
· Highly motivated
· Capacity to work effectively within deadlines and short time frames
· Responds to tasks with little supervision
· Maintains professionalism, confidentiality and discretion
· Able to work independently
· Preference will be given to applicants with experience
