The position at a glance

The mission of the Americas Legal Department is to provide comprehensive, effective and efficient legal support to the CIB business. In this capacity, the Americas Legal Department advises on a broad range of legal matters for the entities within its scope, including providing legal advice to management, business and the functions with respect to commercial and own account activities, and contributing to the Bank’s influence on applicable legislative or market wide regulatory initiatives. The team provides legal and regulatory watch and maintains a legal risk management framework, including associated procedures and controls.


In detail

Legal Operations support, including but not limited to:

  • Promoting our mission, drive implementation of processes and technologies that enable us to operate effectively on foundational matters like mater management, knowledge and records management, legal vendor management, financial processes, legal risk management framework, legal communications and other critical needs to run the business of the department
  • Help to achieve Legal Operations goals, as the department needs evolve, with a growth mindset, and design methods for measuring attainment of them
  • Organization of legal functions including memberships and subscriptions, trainings etc.
  • Work closely with members of the Americas LEGAL Team to efficiently effectuate processes and procedures

Minimum required qualifications:

  • B.A. or B.S. degree or relevant experience

  • Self-starter, problem-solver, with strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills and who pays attention to detail.

  • Ability to organize, think critically, strategically and tactically, meet deadlines yet remain flexible in a dynamic multi-task and fast-paced environment.
  • Work across the organization as required and maintain high standards of professionalism in all dealings with team members and internal/external clients
  • Strong Technical Skills:
    • Advanced Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook….)
    • Ability to learn and master internal platforms and systems

Preferred qualifications:

  • Preferred: 3+ years of law firm or in-house legal and operations management support experience
  • Knowledge of basic financial terms, concepts and accounting principles
