Guelph's own Market Fresh is looking a Line Cook to join our growing business.

Here's a little about us: Since 2000 we have prided ourselves on bringing our customers wholesome fresh and local gourmet food.

We're an independent family run business with a great team of people who love food and community as much as we do. Our butcher shop, bakery, deli, green grocer and kitchen all specialize in sourcing and creating delicious eats and treats that showcase the best of the region and season. We're located in the heart of downtown Guelph. We are looking for a motivated individual with at least 2 years of professional cooking experience in a similar role.

Here's what we get!

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required ; culinary degree preferred
  • 1-3 years of experience cooking in a restaurant, hotel, or resort (we are willing to train the right candidate)
  • Understanding of cooking methods and procedures, and knife handling skills
  • Ability to perform tasks with accuracy, speed, and attention to detail
  • Ability to read and follow cooking directions
  • Ability to remain calm in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be organized and self-motivated
  • Must be able to stand, bend, stretch, and lift, and carry heavy materials
  • Certified in Food Safe, SafeCheck, Food Handler or equivalent (preferred)

Job responsibilities for Line Cook

  • Prepare ingredients then cook and assemble dishes as indicated by recipes
  • Ensure that all dishes are prepared in a timely manner by restocking ingredients at work station and meeting prep times to ensure smooth delivery
  • Set up and clean station according to restaurant protocol
  • Maintain a clean work station area, including kitchen equipment, tables, and shelves
  • Comply with applicable sanitary, health, and personal hygiene standards
  • Ensure quality and freshness of ingredients and products
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the sous chef or chef
