The Calgary Food Bank is hiring a manager to join our Logistics and Inventory team!

Summary: Working with the Logistics and Inventory Director, this position is responsible for achieving organizational food distribution goals.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Represents the Logistics and Inventory Director when liaising with all departments to manage the quality of internal and external food distribution.
  • Management and co-ordination of the flow of materials (food and non-food) and equipment from source (donations or purchase) to the distribution through Calgary Food Bank programs.
  • Day-to-day department management:
  • Direction of work to supervisors.
  • Planning and scheduling of labour and equipment.
  • Training and coaching.
  • Staff relations and management.
  • Responsible for efficient use of resources (labour and food).
  • Maintaining and enforcing department processes.
  • Incident review and follow up.

Tasks Performed:

  • Ensure volunteer requirements are communicated to the Volunteer Resources team to adequately complete tasks.
  • Work with the Inventory Co-ordinator and supervisors to maintain sufficient stocks of inventory for program fulfillment.
  • Execution of purchasing food and non-food supplies in co-ordination with Corporate Services.
  • Ensure sanitation levels suitable for a food-handling environment.
  • Safety promotion and enforcement.
  • Ensure proper receipt, processing, and distribution of food.
  • Ensure inventory is used for the appropriate programs.
  • Work with program coordinators and associates to define inventory requirements for all programs.
  • Work with the Logistics and Inventory Director to report department metrics and assists in creating metrics.

Education and Experience Required:

  • 5 to 7 years previous experience as a supervisor or manager in a warehouse environment.

Working conditions and physical requirements:

Working conditions are a combination of an office environment and warehouse. Candidates must be able to be on foot for extended periods of time and be able to lift up to 25lbs.

This is a regular, full-time position. The qualified candidate must be open to working outside of normal business hours and weekends. Hours worked beyond the regular work week will be earned and taken as lieu time.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $35.00-$40.00 per hour
