The general accountability of this position requires the Maintenance Technician to:

· Troubleshoot; maintain all plant equipment and production tooling, including any related building maintenance. *

· Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic failures on the plant production equipment. *

· Small fabricating.

· Maintenance Technician who holds electrical certification will troubleshoot and perform electrical maintenance. *

· Equipment installation, as required. *

· Perform routine maintenance and inspections, as assigned.

· Participate in the Emergency Response Team and related activities, as required.

· Welding skills (MIG) in aluminum and steel.

· Maintain the maintenance shop in accordance with 5S.

· Identify and record any problems related to the process equipment through designated channels, as applicable.

· Initiate, recommend or provide solutions to machine problems through designated channels.*

· Maintain maintenance records as required to document history.

· Other duties, as assigned.

The Maintenance Technician’s function is performed primarily in the plant environment; therefore, a more than moderate amount of physical effort is required. This may involve repairs, including lifting, supporting, etc. In addition, a good portion of time may be spent in a standing position at a workbench. Working with hazardous substances (e.g. MDI) is a requirement; however, appropriate PPE will prevent exposures and any potential adverse health effects.

Other skills and abilities

· Handling conflicting priorities under strict deadlines.

· Workload and pace; the workload is occasionally heavy and fast paced. Concentration and accurate responses are required.

· This position may require that the individual work overtime on a regular basis as well as be available any time of the day in the event of a breakdown or emergency.

Requirements

· Certified in Ontario as an Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) or Electrician - dual ticket preferred

· Participate in shift rotation, as required.

· Ability to receive forklift and propane handling certification is required.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: Up to $31.18 per hour
