The Department

The NWP farm is home to both a commercial and purebred cattle herd as well as a sheep flock. The farm provides support to Agricultural programing as well as providing research opportunities.

The Role

The Agricultural Operations Manager oversees and manages all farm assets, livestock, facilities, staff and financials. Additionally, this position is a member of the Animal Sciences Department to ensure that student learning is maximized through collaborative relationships and coordinated activities.

This is a part-time permanent role working approximately 20 hours per week.

Hourly wage range: $38.02 – $54.08

Job Requirements

The successful candidate will preferably have 2 years post-secondary education with a preferred field of studies being Agriculture Operations or related field (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Necessary skills and attributes to be successful in this role include:

  • Valid class 5 drivers license
  • Proficient in Microsoft office applications
  • Maintaining and operating budgets
  • Physical and mental ability to carry out farm related duties
  • Experience with various farm equipment operation
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills; excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Canadian Cattle Identification program
  • CattleMax Software and psion recording system
  • Allflex (RFID) Radio Frequency Identification
  • Tru-Test scale head weighing system including software with blue tooth recording/transfer program.
  • A high level of integrity, professionalism and accountability
  • Safety orientated
