The Manager, Sustainability and Social Impact is a key contributor to the Sustainability and Social Impact team. Providing strategic and tactical support to the Sr. Director, Sustainability and Social Impact on the execution and delivery of strategic programs and initiatives across the business, in alignment with the Company’s purpose and values and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy. The Manager works closely with both internal and external stakeholders to bring about positive environmental and social impact in areas that matter most to our customers, colleagues and communities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Building relationships with internal and external stakeholders to explore and assess opportunities.
  • Supporting the coordination and execution of internal and external marketing and communication plans.
  • Managing relationships with external consultants and service providers.
  • Strategic planning of programs and initiatives to engage our stakeholders, and build ambassadorship.
  • Support reporting to company leadership and across business divisions and departments.
  • Support sustainability and social impact-related company communication to a range of stakeholders, including customers, colleagues, policymakers, and investors.
  • Acting as a representative for Loblaw with external groups, industry associations and public events.
  • Support the development of events and initiatives across the business.
  • Key contributor to the development and delivery of annual ESG Report and periodic ESG and broader company disclosures.
  • Researching trends and best practices for Social Impact and Sustainability and identifying opportunities for the business to improve performance on various ESG-related rankings, such as WDI, GEI, CSA, FTSE.

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in social responsibility, sustainability and / or ESG matters.
  • Previous corporate communications experience is considered an asset.
  • Previous corporate experience is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated understanding of widely used ESG reporting frameworks like SASB, TCFD, CDP and GRI.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment, managing numerous priorities simultaneously.
  • Experience with community outreach and relationship management.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to bring together and manage interactions with employees from across the organization with competing objectives.
  • Excellent problem solver and ability to manage difficult situations with tact and creativity.
  • Ability to analyze reports and large data sets with precision and efficiency.
  • Strong attention to detail, highly organized and proactive.
  • Excellent communications skills.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite of tools.
