Job Overview:

The Manager of Volunteer Resources and Special Events reports to theChief Social Impact Officer

(CSIO) and is responsible and accountable for developing, implementing, managing and evaluating

Volunteer Resources and Special Events; collaborates with Managers, Staff, and the people we serve to

provide support to a variety of program and service initiatives; fosters and promotes a spirit of

community involvement by actively encouraging and recruiting community volunteer participation to

meet the established strategic plans and organizational initiatives and objectives; plays the lead role in

the planning and implementation of special events.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Collaborate with site-specific volunteer leads to develop and implement effective strategies to recruit volunteers with the right skills at the right time to match the interest of the organization

· Train staff to work effectively with volunteers on each program and resolve any conflict or misunderstanding without bias.

· Enlighten and clarify staff and volunteers on their roles and responsibilities to all stakeholders, in alignment with the goal or objectives of the organization.

· Conduct continuous evaluation of the programs and services delivered by the volunteer resources and implements corrections when necessary.

· Acts as an advocate for patients, residents, clients and families, and the role of volunteerism. Responds to issues in the program to internal and external stakeholders and agencies; takes a lead role in coordinating a complaint review/audit process to address concerns regarding volunteer processes. Research and draft volunteer policies and procedures, including risk assessments

· Maintain an up-to-date database using this information to monitor and evaluate activities.

· Design formal or informal activities to recognize the contributions of volunteers to the organization.

· Develops an annual volunteer program plan that identifies opportunities for additional and improved services including volunteer recruitment, retention and training.

· Leads the planning of special events such as golf tournaments, galas, etc.

· Research vendors and make selections based on their creativity, quality, and cost

· Book venues, schedule guests, draft and finalize contracts, and lock down day-of logistics

· Develop content for event materials and work with graphic designer to produce

· Hire personnel as needed across all functions of an event (ex: registration, setup, catering, audio/visual); Recruit volunteers as needed for the day

· Handle day-to-day administration of events and programs

Education and experience:

· Baccalaureate degree in Social Sciences, Education, Business, or Service-oriented field. Completion of a certificate program in volunteer management from a recognized institution is a plus.

· Minimum 2 years related work experience as a volunteer coordinator/manager or events planner, experience in a non-profit/charitable organization is a plus.

· Motivated, positive attitude with a willingness to learn, decisive and a team player.

· Ability to work under pressure and multitask.

· Proven ability to identify problems and recommend and implement solutions.

· Ability to use sound judgement and make effective decisions. Attention to detail and adherence to strict deadlines.

· Additional language skills is a plus.
