Role Proposition:

Mantles Restaurant & Lounge, located in the lower lobby of the Sun Peaks Grand and in the heart of the village core, welcomes hotel guests, visitors to Sun Peaks Resort and the local community alike. Throughout the dining and lounge spaces the team works to responsibly cultivate a mountain of taste, care, and memories.

The Host & Food Runners partner with the serving and bartending team to provide an exceptional guest and dining experience. They support the FOH team by hosting the door, running food, and bussing tables. This role will also be the point of contact for guests wishing to order meals for take-out or in-room-dining. At breakfast, Host & Food Runners work as Breakfast Servers to facilitate our breakfast buffet experience.

Host & Food Runners work all meal periods; they assist the servers to ensure that guests’ needs are anticipated and that their dining experience is truly effortless. They work with the rest of the FOH team, and the culinary team to ensure that an exceptional guest experience is delivered and maintained across the service.

The candidate best suited to the role is an accomplished communicator and multi-tasker, is passionate about great service. They are compliant with Health & Safety, and most of all they thrive in the mountains and all they have to offer.

Accountabilities:

  • Assist the restaurant team by running food and drinks to tables, bussing and resetting tables, and help to greet and seat guests as required
  • In the role of host, be the face of the restaurant - greeting and seating guests and keep the restaurant floor plans up-to-date
  • As food runners take food to tables according to seat position and announce dishes to guests
  • As Breakfast Servers work alongside the serving team to ensure a successful buffet service
  • Answer the telephone professionally to respond to guest enquires, take food orders either for collection or delivery in-house, and make table reservations
  • Be responsible for the In-Room-Dining service when scheduled, ensuring food and drink is delivered to guest rooms, guests are billed and quality checked in due time
  • Deliver exceptional guest experience by following the standards of service
  • Anticipate guest needs
  • Use the POS system to send guest orders to the kitchen and bar, and to bill guests
  • Contribute to the maintenance of a clean, tidy and well-presented restaurant on a shift-by-shift basis
  • Prompt and accurate cashing out at the end of service
  • Ensures operational Health and Safety regulations are adhered to at all times
  • Acts as an ambassador for Sun Peaks Resort & Sun Peaks Grand Hotel
  • Willing to assist other Food & Beverage operations within the hotel and perform any other duties as necessary

Ideal Candidate:

  • Passionate about the mountains and skiing & snowboarding
  • Restaurant experience preferred
  • Knowledge of table reservation software (OpenTable / TouchBistro)
  • Serving it Right Certification
  • Micros Simphony POS System experience
  • Excellent food and wine knowledge
  • Ability to work as a team and demonstrate initiative
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent organization and time management skills with the ability to multi-task
  • Dedicated to working within a dynamic team that focuses on collaboration and guest experience
  • Must be available to work various shifts, including availability on weekends
