Rocky Point Engineering is a highly successful Mechanical Consulting Engineering firm with 8 offices across British Columbia and we are seeking candidates with both education and experience in plumbing and mechanical system design.

We are looking for enthusiastic, self-motivated and talented team players to join our highly successful offices in Vancouver, Langley, Victoria, Nanaimo, Kelowna, Kamloops, Nelson and our newest locations Smithers, BC. The candidates must also be detail oriented and enjoy contributing to the success of the team in a progressive work environment.

Position:

We have several positions available in all offices from entry level to experienced candidates. The successful candidate will work with and/or lead a design team at various levels of responsibility depending on experience and skill level to deliver a successful plumbing and mechanical project to our clients incorporating energy efficient, sustainable and industry best practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Design calculations related to plumbing and mechanical system design.
  • Production of AutoCAD and/or Revit plumbing and mechanical drawings.
  • Selection and sizing of plumbing and mechanical equipment.
  • Development and editing of mechanical specifications for plumbing and mechanical systems.
  • Reviewing plumbing and mechanical drawings for completeness and coordination with other disciplines.
  • Onsite investigation of existing systems for coordination and design.
  • Perform various other duties as assigned by the manager or team leader related to project design.

Minimum Skills /Qualifications:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • University degree, college/technology diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Systems.
  • AutoCAD experience in plumbing and mechanical design.
  • Able to read Architectural, Structural, Mechanical and Electrical drawings.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet project deadlines.

Optional Skills / Qualifications: The following are optional but would be an asset for the candidate

  • BIM/Revit experience in plumbing and HVAC modelling
  • Supervision and mentoring of junior staff within the design team.
  • Senior design team leadership experience.
  • Site related plumbing and mechanical experience at field reviews.
  • Ability to deal with site related construction correspondence such as answering RFI’s and issuing of site instructions.
  • Development of energy modelling inputs, and strategies to the teams Energy Modeler or consultant.
  • Experience in client management and quality control procedures.
  • Experience in public and private sector project design in various market sectors.
